Storage Explorer
Cloud storage integration built like Windows Explorer. Connect Business Central to configured Azure Blob, Azure Files, FTP/FTPS and SharePoint storage for browsing and file handling. Developers can use UNC paths for easy file management.
Funksjoner
- •Windows explorer UXIf you know Windows Explorer then you will know Storage Explorer.
- •Familiar storage browsingBrowse storage entries and folders from within Business Central through a consistent interface.
- •Azure Blob and Azure FilesConnect to Azure Blob Storage and Azure File Service using the service details and credentials configured in Business Central.
- •FTP/FTPS integrationConnect to FTP/FTPS services through a configured Azure Function endpoint for file operations.
- •SharePoint folder listing and uploadConnect to SharePoint, list document-library root folders and manage files.
- •AL integration interfaceUse the app's storage interface to list content and perform supported upload, download and delete operations from AL code.
- •Developer friendly use \\share\folder\file.xxx UNC pathsA developer will easly be able to implement the storage explorer as a file handler. E.g. download all files from FTP site. Explorer.GetFiles('\\FTP\inboundfolder\*.xml) if Explorer.FindSet then repeat Explorer.DownloadFile(filecontent); until Explorer.next = 0;
- •Cross service - copy from FTP to AzureDo you want to get a file from FTP and save it in Azure Blob container? No, problem.
- •FTPS/SFTPWe will install an azure function as middleware. It only contains a routing from BC to the FTP site. It does not store any data.
Beskrivelse
Storage Explorer brings online cloud storage into Business Central in a way that feels familiar. Browse, upload and download files directly from within Business Central — navigating your cloud storage just as you would the folders on your own computer.
Storage Explorer connects Business Central to configured cloud and FTP storage services through a consistent storage interface. Users can browse supported storage entries from Business Central and work with files without treating the remote service as a local drive.
The app includes integrations for Azure Blob Storage and Azure File Service, along with an FTP/FTPS connection that uses an Azure Function endpoint. SharePoint support currently covers listing document-library root folders and uploading files; it does not provide SharePoint file downloads or deletion.
For developers, Storage Explorer is also a building block. Other apps can integrate with cloud storage through simple UNC-style paths — such as \Cloud\Documents\Invoice.pdf — making it straightforward to add file handling to custom solutions without building storage integration from scratch.
For developers, the AL interface exposes operations to list storage content and to upload, download or delete files. It can provide a basis for custom Business Central file-handling workflows.
